how many litterboxes should my cat have?
“How many litter boxes does my cat need?” That’s the age-old question of many cat owners. It’s common to see one litter box per cat, or even multiple cats to one litter box. But the question remains: is that enough for a healthy, happy cat?
According to the World Animal Foundation, there’s a formula for that! The formula is as follows, n being the number of cats, and +1 being an extra litter box.
n+1
So if you own 3 cats, then you would need 4 litter boxes.
It’s important to ensure your cats have a sufficient number of litter boxes to keep them happy and healthy. Our feline friends prefer to be clean and use a clean bathroom space. Too few litter boxes among too many cats can spell trouble. A litter box might not be available when one of the cats needs to use the bathroom, which means an accident could happen outside of the litter box.
